1959 Vintage Triumph Motorcycle Ad: Bill Martin sets new AMA speed record

Pictured Above: Bill Martin with sons Dale and Lonnie who helped prepare and tune the engine. Bill Martin clocks 139.82 mph in two-way run over measured-mile course. Bonneville, Utah, was the scene of Bill Martin's record-breaking performance on a Streamline Shell Triumph Cub. Martin established a new Formula SC Record for 200 c.c. machines. A one-way speed of 149.315 was reached. Bill Martin's Triumph incorporated a standard production Class "C" Triumph T20S engine powered by pump ethyl gasoline. This engine turned in excess of 9100 rpm during the record runs. Bill's outstanding feat is another prime example of Triumph's great speed, power and dependability.
