1985 ELF2 Roadracer - unique motorcycle

...the ELF2 roadracer, a 500cc GP bike powered by a factory Honda three-cylinder NS500 engine...brainchild of French engineer Andre de Cortanze...left the ELF2's construction and development in the hands of Daniel Trema....

photos:

With the body and fairing in place, only the strange front end reveals that the ELF2 is a truly unique motorcycle.

Because the ELF2's suspension is located above the engine, the gas tank hangs between the tires, beneath the engine.

Husqvarna Motorcycle History - Pictures and article

A Legacy of Thumpers

Husqvarna's state of the art four-strokes have roots that go back to 1903.

Photo captions:

Husky's first four-stroke motocrosser may have been a hodgepodge of existing parts, but it won two world championships in the early Sixties.

The 1919 Model 150 marked Husqvarna's first attempt at building its own V-Twin, a 550cc, 12-hp version that remained in production for nine years

Husky Number One, powered by a 1903-vintage four-stroke Single that churned out a colassal one-and-a-quarter horsepower.

The "Specialracer" model of 1931 managed to look very English; which was appropriate, considering its 500cc, British-made J.A.P. engine.

One of the most beautiful pre-war roadracers, the 1935 V-Twin TT was produced in 350cc and 500cc versions.
