1967 Buick V8 Drag Bike - The Italiano

The Italiano - This time a Buick V8 in a motorcycle frame. The idea of putting an automobile engine in a motorcycle is not a new one. Down through the years, there have been numerous machines constructed using a powerplant from the family car. The advantages are obvious. Gobs of horsepower and torque are available from a virtually stock engine and the cost is low. Since acceleration is a function of weight and horsepower the "Italiano" is a rather interesting departure from some of the other exhibition type bikes...the biggest difference is the engine. Instead of going to the Chevy engine as many others have done, Joe Teresi and Mel Blair decided on the aluminum Buick. This decision was brought about mainly because of the weight...
