1975 Italian ISDT Motorcycle Race 5-Page Article available at www.DadsVintageAds.com

The Italian ISDT and Other Intrigues - In 1973 Americans worried that administrative snags might embarrass our ISDT. Yankees should never have sweated. In 1974 the hosting Italians plunged the ISDT into a red tape briar patch. The bureaucratic convulsions amid the thorns left many competitors hot scarred and hollering. And guess what? The Czechs won the World Trophy again anyway.

1976 "The Bastard Qualifier" California Mojave Desert ISDT Qualifier

Desert riders and a desert setting against Six-Day riders and Six-Day rules: who's going to win? The same old guys: Whoever goes the fastest...there are roughly 20,000 active cross-country riders in the Los Angeles and San Bernardino County areas alone, and for their benefit an ISDT Qualifier was run out in the vast Mojave desert. The event's organizers, the Sunland Shamrocks...

1972 ISDT 47th International Six Days Trial 5-Page Article

Czechs Dominate the 47th edition but a sixth by the U.S. Team Proves that last year's performance was no fluke.

Photo captions:

After the West Germans faltered on the 2nd day, the Czechs dominated World Trophy Competition. Here F. Mraxek (CSSR) forces his Jawa through a turn during a special test.

R. Fisher (MZ) replaced East German Werner Salewski shortly before the trial began. An injury prevented Salewski from participating.

J. Tornasko (Jawa 100), W. Opel (Sachs 100), and E. Audreoletti (KTM) kicking their bikes to life at the start of the first day.

Bill Uhl (Penton) earned a gold medal for the U.S. Trophy team.

Carl Cranke (Penton) during a special test. He also took home a gold medal for the U.S.

The paddock area in the Kroknosse National Park in Northern Czechoslovakia was beautiful and well equipped to handle the crowds.

ISDT: Uphill All The Way

It's really a shame that so little is known about the International Six Days Trial / ISDT here in the United States because it's by far the most complicated and sophisticated game in town for motorcyclists......this was the 3rd year the event has been held in the tiny mountain ski resort town of Spindleruv Myln, Czechoslavakia.....

Photo Captions:

The United States Trophy Team, mounted on Pentons, finished sixth.

The Czechs, riding on their home ground, scooped up first place easily.

Supply truck behind him, Dane Leimbach works on his Penton.

A stop at a time-card checkpoint.

Barry Higgins: wrenching/eating.

School was recessed for two days for the ISDT.

It doesn't look like Daytona, but this is a road race special test.

Works BMW ran on West German Silver Vase Team.
