With a record-shattering time of 6.74 seconds, Joe Hemmis swept to victory in the Class A National Championship Hillclimb...sponsored by the Muskegon Motorcycle Club. In winning, Joe bettered Willard Bryan's record 7.47 seconds of 9 years' standing. Riding a 40 cu. in. Triumph, Joe established his new record on his first run...beating out both professional and amateur riders. Another member of the Hemmis family also finished in the money. Joe's brother Charlie also riding a Triumph landed tenth place in the race. Joe's thrilling victory is continued proof of Triumph's power, speed and all-around get-up-and-go.
