King Kenny Roberts wins 500cc World Championship; Glover takes 125cc USGP and AMA 125cc Championship; Tripes wins 250cc USGP by a hair; Eklund still leads Springsteen in Camel Pro Series.

The Group Four Ducati won the 24 Hours of Nelson Ledges by a margin of 28 laps. 52 bikes started the annual race.

Freddie Spencer, Lousiana'a 16-year-old quick kid, chases Dale Singleton in a WERA race at Mid-Ohio. Not bad for second time on a TZ750.

Yamaha's Broc Glover swept the USGP, then won his second AMA 125cc National Motocross Championship.

Marty Tripes gulps champagne after winning the U.S. 250cc GP

Randy Mamola (26) leads Dale Singleton, Mike Baldwin (43), Gene Romero (3), Wes Cooley (34), Richard Schlacter (48), and Mike Cone (47) at the start of the Pocono 750 final. Mamola retired with mechanical problems while running fifth after 12 laps.

Mike Baldwin received a trophy for being fast qualifier at Pocono, went on to win the final.

When Kenny Roberts arrived in Europe, some people doubted he could do well in his first year of Grand Prix competition. When he left, he was World Champion.
