Evolution of a classic. A classic motorcycle doesn't happen overnight. It evolves over weeks and months and years. Triumph should know. We began designing motorcycles at the turn of the century and built our first in 1902. Many turned out to be classics - and we are justifiably proud of them. Meet two Triumph classics.
1917 Triumph Model H
Throttle - two separate thumb-controlled levers, one for the air intake and one for fuel.
Gauges - 50 mph speedometer, odometer, and trip odometer marked in minutes to remind rider when to lubricate engine.
Gas Tank - capacity 1 1/2 gallons gas, 2 pints oil in separate compartment with plunger pump for manual engine lubrication.
Brakes - foot operated rear drum brake, hand-operated front rim brake.
Engine - 550cc 4-stroke, 4 hp single-cylinder Triumph with total-loss lubrication system.
1975 Triumph T160 Trident
Electric Starter - thumb controlled effortless electric starting
Switches - clearly marked and conveniently positioned handlebar switch clusters.
Gas Tank - choice of two sizes, 3 1/2 or 5 gallons. Also available in Yellow and White.
Disc Brakes - Triumph-Lockheed hydraulic disc brakes now on both the front and rear.
Engine - 750cc 4-stroke triple, slanted forward for optimum weight distribution, featuring a high-performance tuned exhaust system.
