"Late in 1997 I received "The Coloradoan newspaper's 1998 calendar which celebrated the 125th Anniversary of the "Coloradoan" and Fort Collins, Colorado. The cover was a collage of the photos within. To my surprise and pleasure one was of Eddie Mitchell - Eddie the Globe Trotter - and his 1925 Indian Prince motorcycle. As I searched through to find the photo, I had no idea where this one seeminly inconsequential action would lead. The photo showed Eddie, aged 23, astride his motorcycle and Hugh Lloyd, the Fort Collins Indian dealer, standing alongside. Eddie was finishing the final leg of a 14,740 mile motorcycle ride begun Saturday, June 13, 1925 which had taken him from New York to Florida, California, Washington, and into Colorado before heading back to New York. He would skirt the entire United States in 147 days..."
