1976 Harley-Davidson FLH-1200 - when was the last time you saw a dirty Harley-Davidson?
You've seen Hondas, Yamahas and BMW's that needed a good cleaning. But can you ever remember seeing a Harley-Davidson in anything less than immaculate condition? Probably not. Because Harley-Davidsons are traditionally the most meticulously cared for bikes around. It reflects the pride that come s from owing one of these magnificent machines - such as the FLH1200 shown here. 1974 Yamaha RD350 Street Bike - Same basic designs as Kenny Roberts Road Racer
"I've alway raced Yamahas. I may be crazy, but I'm not stupid." - Kenny Roberts, AMA Grand National Champion
..."You don't need the biggest bike to win," Kenny says. "Just the best bike. Last year when we raced our 350cc Yamahas against the 750cc machines at Daytona and Talladega, we swept the first three places. Simply because our Yamahas were the most reliable bikes on the track. If they weren't I'd be stupid to ride the way I do."
This same reliability is built into all Yamahas. For example, our RD350 street bike has the same basic frame, engine, transmission and suspension designs as the road racer Kenny's riding in the picture above. Which may be what prompted one motorcycle magazine to name it "The bike most likely to lose you your driver's license."...

1974 Yamaha Bicycle - the motocrossin' Moto-Bike
When a Yamaha rider rolls his motorcycle off the trailer, he knows his chances of winning the race are better than most. That's because Yamaha has a tradition of building motorcycles that win. Now Yamaha has built another winner. It's not a motorcycle. Yet, it's hardly a bicycle. It's the Yamaha MotoBike. Built especially for bicycle motocross. At the heart of the Moto-Bike is a real Yamaha motocross type frame. And unlike many other bicycles, the Yamaha Motobike has shock absorbers: oil-dampened in front; spring-loaded in back. It's got motorcycle handlebars and grips. Heavy-duty spokes and wheels and motocross tires round out the Moto-Bike bicycle. With a Yamaha Motobike, you get the mechanical superiority people have come to expect from Yamaha. You also get a share in the Yamaha tradition of winning. From Yamaha, people have come to expect that, too.
Someday, you'll own a Yamaha.

1974 Print Article on Motorcycle Junkyards
Uninitiated observers call them junkyards; those who run such places call them salvage yards. If Madison Avenue types named them, the world would have emporiums of pre-owned parts. Call them whatever you lie because we all know what's there...Fences, Dogs and Parts Once Used.
Suppose that you need a wheel hub for your Suzuki X-6 or an engine for the '49 Famous James you're restoring. The wheel hubs have been back-ordered from your friendly local Suzuki dealer for two months and the last anyone heard from the snarky old dude who used to be the James dealer was that he had been the focal point of a tremendous funeral. The answer to these and similar personal traumas for bike freaks may lie drowsing in the warm summer dirt at a local motorcycle salvage yard...

1974 Yamaha 250 Road Racer - History of the privateer's best friend
...Yamaha 250 production racers have been the standard mount for beginning roadracers for ten years now, and they have dominated international 250 racing for five years. In any country of the world where roadracing exists, you will find most riders and tuners are thoroughly familiar with these machines. The engines are derived from road models, and at the present time, the frames, forks, and other important parts are shared with the street-going counterparts as well. How has this situation come about? What combination of circumstances has led this company to produce hundreds of basically simple machines that win both club events and international races?...
