1967 Yamaha Sportcycles Basic Set Up Procedures Motorcycle Manual

Basic Procedures for Yamaha Sportcycles

The preliminary set-up procedure is the most important check-up any Yamaha Sportcycle will ever receive! The accuracy and conscientiousness with which this operation is performed will make or break a shops sales and service reputation. The correct servicing procedures when the machine is new and at regular 2000 mile check-ups thereafter are described in detail and must be followed to the letter if customer satisfaction is to be attained.

An improperly set-up Yamaha can develop enough problems to allow a customer to think he has purchased an undependable means of transportation or motorcycling pleasure. This machine will develop certain bad "mechanical habits" such as carbon formation which may stay with and affect the performance of the machine even after the original problem has been corrected. These problems are annoying, time consuming, possibly dangerous and can be eliminated by the use of the following set-up procedures.

Make sure that all Yamaha Sportcycles are as "road worthy" as their appearance (Front Cover) leads people to believe.
