1954 29th ISDT International Six Days Trial, Llandrindod Wells, Britain
Jawa mounted Czech team tops trial.
Photos:
Top: Winning Czech Trophy Team pose for cameras before start of Trial. A Trophy Team has to have at least two different capacity machines, and altho all of these are Jawas, numbers 72 and 26 are 150cc and the other three are of 250cc capacity. From left to right: V. Sedina, J. Kubes, S. Klimt, J. Pudil and B. Roucka. Their machines were clean and neat and stood out from other competitors of all nations because they had no spanners and spare tubes, etc., fastened on all over with rubber bands. Their riding was of the same high calibre.
Bottom: Swearing in 15 languages, riders block the hill on the first day's route. On extreme left British captain Hugh Viney shouts for others to get out of the blankety-blank way! No rider is allowed to have assistance unless he constitutes a danger or is injured.

Busting onto the Six Day Team - 1974 ISDT Article
It would be easier to swim to Italy. This year's method of selecting riders to represent the United States at the 1974 International Six Days Trial (September 9-14) in Italy was the most organized attempt yet by the AMA. There is room for only 30 riders on the various U.S. teams.
Six on the World Trophy Team
Four on the Vase A Team
Four on the Vase B Team
Three riders each on five Club and Manufacturers's teams
One alternate who will ride as an individual if a replacement is not needed
Photo captions:
Carl Cranke is service manager of Penton West. He can change a throttle cable with his gloves on;
Billy Uhl's ride in Italy will be his sixth ISDT. He and his father run a bike shop in Boise, Idaho.
Jack Penton is the youngest, and fastest, of the three Penton boys. He rode his first Six Day at 16.
The 175 Can-Am ridden by Billy Uhl was equal in performance to all the other bikes in the qualifier series, regardless of their size. Double Girling dampers are a Uhl experiment.
18-year-old Dan Young of Bowling Green, Ky., will be one of the youngest riders in Italy.
Jim Hollander rode the last 18 miles of Trask Mountain on the rear rim of his Rokon RT-340.
Ben Bower slumps in total frustration at Bad Rock after drowning his Husky 50' from the end.
Tom Penton slithers through the Picayune slop. He will ride a 175 at his fifth ISDT in Italy.

1976 "The Bastard Qualifier" California Mojave Desert ISDT Qualifier
Desert riders and a desert setting against Six-Day riders and Six-Day rules: who's going to win? The same old guys: Whoever goes the fastest...there are roughly 20,000 active cross-country riders in the Los Angeles and San Bernardino County areas alone, and for their benefit an ISDT Qualifier was run out in the vast Mojave desert. The event's organizers, the Sunland Shamrocks...

1972 ISDT 47th International Six Days Trial 5-Page Article
Czechs Dominate the 47th edition but a sixth by the U.S. Team Proves that last year's performance was no fluke.
Photo captions:
After the West Germans faltered on the 2nd day, the Czechs dominated World Trophy Competition. Here F. Mraxek (CSSR) forces his Jawa through a turn during a special test.
R. Fisher (MZ) replaced East German Werner Salewski shortly before the trial began. An injury prevented Salewski from participating.
J. Tornasko (Jawa 100), W. Opel (Sachs 100), and E. Audreoletti (KTM) kicking their bikes to life at the start of the first day.
Bill Uhl (Penton) earned a gold medal for the U.S. Trophy team.
Carl Cranke (Penton) during a special test. He also took home a gold medal for the U.S.
The paddock area in the Kroknosse National Park in Northern Czechoslovakia was beautiful and well equipped to handle the crowds.
