Belgian
East German
Ulster

Honda wins International Grand Prix Championship in historic sweep of world-wide racing classics.

During 1961, Honda motorcycles scored the greatest sweep in the history of the European Grand Prix racing circuit - winning the International Grand Prix Championships in both the 125 cc and 250 cc classes and establishing Honda riders Tom Phillis and Mike Hailwood, respectively, as World Championship Riders in those classes.
The supremacy of Honda machines in the world's top racing classics was highlighted by Honda's amazing domination of the first 5 places in both the 125 and 250 cc classes at the Isle of Man TT, biggest international racing event of them all.
In scores of other major races around the globe where international motorcycle manufacturers compete in technical and engineering skill - such as the Daytona Grand Prix, in which Honda machines swept both the 125 and 250 cc classes - Honda proved time and again during 1961 its claim to the title, "World's Finest Motorcycles."

Why not ride the finest?

There's a precision-built Honda for you in the big versatile line of Honda machines that range from 50 cc to 305 cc. They're designed to encompass every taste and purpose - and every one is put together like a precision watch. The low prices will surprise you too. The Center of Attention - Kawasaki Z-1 900

Dad's Vintage Motorcycle Ad of the Day

Ad Publication Date: 1974
Ad Title: The Center of Attention - Kawasaki Z-1 900

This vintage motorcycle ad may still be available for sale HERE.

Text of Ad:

"The Center of Attention"

If you can take your Z-1 for granted while other people are taking it for something out of this world, you know your motorcycles.

Because this is what people who ought to know their motorcycles have said about the Kawasaki Z-1 900:

"...a motorcycled that will undoubtedly become the new criterion for the motorcycle industry..." Cycle Guide.

"...one of thos rare motorcycles with the stuff of which legends are made..." Modern Cycle.

And the Z-1 didn't get those notices just because it's good looking. It had to work damn hard for them.

With a super-smooth dual overhead cam 4-stroke, 4-cylinder, 903cc engine. With a capability of hitting a top speed about twice as fast as you should ever go. With a sophisticated suspension that loves to lean over and cling to the road. And, this year, with a rugged new chain that doesn't want to give up.

The Z-1 also worked for its reputation by putting it on the line at Daytona. The result was a new 24 Hour World Record, and the setting of over 50 other World and American records. Not bad, considering that the previous world record was set on a highly modified bike, and the Z-1 that broke it was a stock machine.

Proving that the bike you can ride for a good time is also the bike that can ride to a record time.

Kawasaki
lets the good times roll.

Dirt. Cheap. Yamaha MX100 and MX175

Dad's Vintage Motorcycle Ad of the Day

Ad Publication Date: 1979
Ad Title: Dirt Cheap. Yamaha MX100 and MX175

Text of Ad:

Dirt. Cheap.

Introducing the newest members of the Yamaha off-road family. The MX100 and MX175.

Two tough, powerful, reliable off-road playbikes that just about anyone can ride.

And Afford.

They're priced very low, yet come loaded with all the proven features they need to make them Yamahas.

The MX175, our full-size machine, has Yamaha's exclusive Monoshock rear suspension. The same type used on our champion YZ motocrossers. Its extremely long travel soaks up the worst bumps and jolts. And the rigid triangulated swing arm keeps your rear wheel right on track.

Leading-axle front forks allow more front wheel travel as well as quick, precise steering.

The MX100 is a unique, intermediate-size bike (right in between mini and full-size) that's not only ideal for youngsters but for anyone just getting started in off-road riding.

The seat height is extra-low for stable, confident handling. Full-sized, oil-dampened rear shocks and long-travel front forks assure comfortable cruising around the campground and responsive control on all kinds of ground.

Both bikes are powered by rugged, race-proven Yamaha two-stroke singles. Reed Valve Torque Induction insures plenty of pulling power at the low end and throughout the broad powerband. The easy-shifting transmissions are geared for efficiency and versatility.

The center mount exhaust pipes are routed up and through the lightweight motocross-type frames for maximum ground clearance.

And our patented Autolube System automatically mixes your gas and oil so you can concentrate on having fun.

The new MX100 and MX175.

It's not often you find motorcycles that are worth so much more.

And cost so much less.

Yamaha - When you know how they're built.

Exclusive Monoshock rear suspension.

Versatile 6-speed transmission.

Responsive, long-travel, leading-axle front forks.

Five-way adjustable rear shocks.

Easy-shifting 5-speed transmission.

Motocross-tuned front forks.

Knobby tires for all-terrain traction.
