Rare 1953 Shell Oil Successes Book on Racing. Introductions by Fergus Anderson and Bill Barugh. Some of the Motorcycle Achievements include Norton at Silverstone, Moto Guzzi at Grand Prix De Nations, Norton at Snetterton, Moto Guzzi at Isle of Man TT, Moto Guzzi at Belgian Grand Prix, Norton at French Grand Prix, Moto Guzzi at Swiss Grand Prix, DKW at Isle of Man TT, Norton at Grand Prix at Monza. Trials and Scrambles include D.O.T. 2 Stroke, Norton Wins Sidecar Trophy. Book size is 5 1/4 by 8 1/4, has 64 pages, printed in England and is in Good Condition.

Foreword: Coronation year will live long in our memories and it will be remembered amongst other things for Britain's achievements. Ther was the conquest of Everst by a British led team, the regaining of the Ashes, the first underwater Atlantic crossing by a submarine and high amongst these in order of merit, the great motoring victories at Le Mans by a team of British Jaguar cars and drivers, in the Monte Carlo Rally by a British car and in the French Grand Prix by a young British driver.



It is significant that in all these motoring events the winning cars were lubricated with Shell X-100 Motor Oil, moreover, that this oil was chosen by the winners of almost every major European motoring event of 1953.

For the second year running Shell X-100 Motor Oil was used by: The World champion driver Alberto Ascari; The B.R.D.C. Gold Star winner, this year Mike Hawthorn; The R.A.C. British Hill Climb Champion, Ken Wharton, and Don Parker who once more became the "Autosport" Formula III Champion, having changed over since last year from a castor-based oil to Shell X-100. In addition, Fergus Anderson used Shell Motor Oil in winning the World's 350cc Motor Cycle Championship.



In demonstrations of all kinds Shell X-100 has proved its superiority, from the 172 mph production Jaguar to the diminutive 49cc Cucciolo which averaged 39.7 mph for 31 hours; by the 8 hp car that came from Rome to London in a day, but above all by the Ferrari team in their succession of Grand Prix victories that have shown them to be the greatest team in the world. Twelve out of the fourteen major European Grand Prix races in 1952 and 1953 have been won by Ferrari on Shell X-100 Motor Oil...
