1969 Hodaka 100 motorcycle single piston actual size photograph

Beauty and the beast. How can a bike that looks as good as the Hodaka win the nation's Trailbike Championship 3 years running?

The word is simplicity, reports a noted test writer. "Six tools. Six simple, inexpensive tools plus a standard set of metrics is all it takes to completely teardown and re-assemble this little masterpiece of design.

You are looking at an actual size photograph of the Hodaka's single piston. This tiny item develops 9.8 hp at 7500 rpm. 1.63 hp per cubic inch displacement. The same as Andy Granatelli's Plymouth-powered Indianapolis 500 contender, now being developed. And that's just the beginning. Using production racing accessories, Hodaka mounted Harry Taylor won the 1968 Daytona Roadrace Classic, turning speeds in excess of 100 mph!
