1947 Book of the BSA Motorcycle by W.C. Haycraft, published by Floyd Clymer
Forward: By special arrangement with the original publishers of this book, Sir Isaac Pitman & Son, Ltd., of London, England, we have secured the exclusive publishing rights for this book, as well as all others in The Motorcyclist’s Library… Floyd Clymer, 1947
Contents: All About Carburation; B.S.A. Lubrication; Care of Lighting System; Overhauling; Index
Preface to Ninth Edition:
For 1939 twenty B.S.A. models are available, and prices (including Lucas electric lighting and automatic voltage control) range from 38 (pounds) to 82 (pounds). Engine capacities vary from 250 c.c. to 1000 c.c.
The author has in the present edition made the best use of the space at his disposal by confining himself almost completely to practical matters. The text has been arranged so as to enable the reader to put his finger on what he wants without needless searching. More important still, the instructions given apply to machines of definite vintage. Full information in regard to the maintenance and overhauling of 1936 to 1939 B.S.A. Models inclusive will be found. Where dates are not mentioned, the information may be regarded as applicable to 1936 onwards. Much of the test applies to pre-1936 models, but for such machines the instructions are not guaranteed fully comprehensive.
Four chapters are included and those who digest them and put into practice the suggestions contained therein will be rewearded by B.S.A. motor-cycling at its best and cheapest. Moreover, when the day for disposing of their mounts arrives, they will assuredly obtain the maximum price or part-exchange allowance.
In conclusion the author would express his thanks to Messrs. B.S.A. Cycles, Ltd. of Birmingham 11, for their generous assistance in regard to supplying illustrations and data. - W.C. Haycraft

1946 Vintage "Fastest On Earth" By Capt. G.E.T. Eyston published by Floyd Clymer
Captain G.E.T. Eyston has been collecting the material for this book over a long period. He has broken more records with different types of cars than any man living, and has a unique knowledge of his subject. Up till now there has been no complete history of attempts upon the Land Speed Record.
This is a thrilling and fascinating book. It begins with the efforts of the pioneers in 1898, when an electric Jeantaud car set up a record of 39.24 m.p.h., a fine contrast with the modern speeds of over 350 m.p.h.
Ignoring his own magnificent achievements, the story of which is told at the end of the book, Captain Eyston extols the feats of his predecessors. Famous names like Parry Thomas, Eldridge, Segrave, and Campbell enrich the story of man's conquest of speed. Captain Eyston has been at pains not only to give intimate glimpses of these renowned drivers, but to give due praise to the designers and to the humble mechanics, who all play their part.
Eyston's own story of his record-breaking run on Thunderbolt, at nearly six miles a minute, brings home to the reader the trials of the record-breaker, and the thrills of the eventual triumph.
The book is illustrated with photographs which have been collected from all over the world. Some of them are from the private collections of Sir Malcolm Campbell and Captain Etston. Those of the early cars have been exceptionally difficult to obtain, and are of unusual interest.
"Fastest on Earth" is a book to read for its thrilling story, and to keep for its historical value. - Floyd Clymer, 1946

1947 Book of the Triumph Motorcycle published by Floyd Clymer
A complete guide for owners and prospective purchasers of Triumph Motor-Cycles and Sidecars.
Forward: By special arrangement with the original publishers of this book, Sir Isaac Pitman & Son, Ltd., of London, England, we have secured the exclusive publishing rights for this book, as well as all others in The Motorcyclist's Library... Floyd Clymer, 1947
Many important developments have taken place in motorcycle design and construction since the fourth edition of "The Book of the Triumph" was published. Triumph motor-cycles have always been in the van and during the past two years numerous alterations have been made. All alterations have been to the advantage of the rider, and it can be confidently stated that there are no machines more reliable, efficient, comfortable, safe, and economical than the 1939 models. The reliability of the Triumph motor-cycle has always been a household word among the host of enthusiastic riders; so it is not surprising that a very large number of earlier models are still giving faithful service. Details regarding design, construction, maintenance, and adjustment given in the following pages refer, in the main, to 1935-1939 models inclusive, but owners of previous models will find that much of the advice given applies equally to their mounts. It is hoped that the present edition will meet with as favourable a reception as did the original work and the second, third, and fourth edition, and that it will enable riders to obtain not only the best results from their machines, but increase their pleasure on the road owing to trouble-free running.
Contents: Starting-Up and Riding Hints; The Theory of the Internal Combustion Engine; Lighting and Electrical Fittings; Care of the Machine; Overhauling; War-Time Regulations; Index

1947 Stenner's Motorcycle Speedway Annual published by Floyd Clymer
Forward: This unusual book of information pertaining to Night Speedway Racing in England and Australia I feel sure will interest a large number of motorcycle enthusiasts who have purchased other books on motorcycles and automobiles that I have published.
Speedway racing draws tremendous crowds in both England and Australia, and the facts and figures given in this book are most interesting. Tom and Jim Stenner, outstanding authorities on Speedway Racing, who have compiled and written the book, are to be congratulated on the very thorough and interesting work they have done.
I enjoyed the book so much that I wanted to make it available to my customers, and I therefore purchased the American publishing rights. So here it is...I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did. - Floyd Clymer, 1947

1944 Vintage Power and Speed Book published by Floyd Clymer
Nice vintage 1944 Floyd Clymer book entitled "Power and Speed"
From the Foreword:
Primarily intended for the more knowledgeable sections of the younger generation, Power And Speed is on entirely different lines from anything of the kind yet produced. Dealing with the Internal Combustion Engine in its varied spheres of use the contents of this book may safely be accepted as unique.
Let me explain. Temple Press, the publishers, are also the proprietors of a number of well-known specialized journals dealing with motoring (in all its branches), aviation and shipping. Each of these publications is a leader in its own particular field. No other book publisher in the world has access to such an exclusive and authoritative collection of information, and that is why the contents of Power And Speed will be such as can be found nowhere else.
Complete technical accuracy coupled with attractive presentation has been achieved, whilst anything of a "blood and thunder" nature has been deliberately excluded. That kind of stuff, which is often an insult to the intelligence of the average young man, can be acquired in vast quantities for a few pence.
Every chapter of Power and Speed has been carefully prepared by experts who are recognized authorities on each particular subject. All the reading matter has been specially written by the appropriate Editor, Sports Editor, and/or Technical Editor; and in addition there is a number of unusually interesting articles by men who have achieved great things on land, on the water, and in the air. These special articles are not of the usual type of superficial story which can be found in the more popular newspapers and periodicals; in fact they contain much inside information which has never previously been published.
The illustrations are almost entirely the work of our own staff of artists and photographers and are therefore exclusive to Temple Press publications. The mechanical line-drawings of motor vehicle chassis and aeroplanes are without parallel in their absolute accuracy and clarity.
So far as I am aware no one has ever before attempted to concentrate in one volume such a mass of authoritative and interesting information about this fascinating modern development - the Internal Combustion Engine...
