In the spectacular 100 Mile Dodge City Grand Prix, on July 4, 1954, Walt Fulton of Kansas City, Mo., won easily over a field of fast riders on all makes of motorcycles and from many different states. Fulton rode a regular stock Triumph T-100C T100C T 100 C with road equipment to establish the first record of 1 hour 40 min. over the new Dodge City 1 1/2 mile airstrip course.
Fulton's stock Triumph had been ridden to Dodge City from Omaha. After the victory the headlight and battery were reinstalled and the machine ridden back to Nebraska. A remarkable achievement and proof that Triumph is a Class "C" champion.
In fourth spot, the national No. 1 Expert rider, Bill Tuman of Rockford, Illinois, riding his first long race on a Triumph, rode steadily and consistently improved his position, moving from fifteenth place at the start to fourth place at the finish. Like Fulton's winning Triumph, the one Tuman rode was a stock machine and a strange one for Tuman. It takes a Triumph to beat a Triumph!
Fastest Time in Drag Racing - 1st Bobby Sir Kegian
This 14 year old Triumph rider topped all contestants in the drags with a speed of 118.2 mph for 1/4 mile from standing start. He also won his first sporting road race - the 200cc to 350cc class on a Triumph Cub, defeating riders on machines having up to 350cc capacity.
